If we were asked to examine our conscience and prepare our defence before going to meet the Lord at the Last Judgement, what things would be on our mind? Did I go to Mass every Sunday and holyday of obligation? Did I go to confession regularly? Did I keep the other laws of the Church? Did I say my prayers regularly? Did I read the Bible regularly? Did I accept all the teachings of the Church? Did I lose my temper? Did I use bad language? Did I look at immoral things on the TV or have 'bad thoughts'?

When the Gospel today speaks about the Last Judgement, the people are judged on one thing alone: How did they take care of those around them who were in need? There is no mention of God, or of religion, or of the church, or the Ten Commandments. Only one thing is mentioned: love. Even direct love of God is not mentioned. Because, as the First Letter of John says, wherever there is outgoing love, God is there. And all who love - no matter who they are - known God. Very simple and very challenging. Where do I stand as a person of love?

Fill our minds, Lord, with Your wisdom.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That young people who are searching for the sense of life may be understood, respected and accompanied with patience and love.
