It's nearly always difficult to accept God's ways - sometimes it seems "impossible" as in the Gospel today. Jesus' hearers think it is the most absurd teaching ever proclaimed. Anaias thinks it's ridiculous that a violent man like Saul can be transformed into God's instrument to bring salvation to all the Gentiles.

Very often in life there are burning questions that demand answers tailored to our own imagination, our own criteria. But God's ways are not our ways: His thoughts are beyond our wildest imagining!

Faith is like that. There are no pre-digested, pre-meditated or planned strategies for us to walk in. God bursts into our lives just as He did in Paul's - sometimes when we are at our worst. To Him there is no time - for all time is His. There are no boundaries or jurisdictions. There are no special people or VIPs, with a special track record of holiness or sanctity. The biggest surprise for all of us at the end of this life will be to really see and know God as He is.

May we pray for one another that we may grow out of our narrow limits and expand into God's ever-widening, ever-surprising ways.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That allowing himself to be enlightened and guided by the Holy Spirit, every Christian may answer enthusiastically and faithfully to the universal call to sanctity.
