God has endowed human beings with external and internal senses which act as the windows of the soul. If only they could be used to enlighten the mind and strengthen the will in our journey through life in the light of God's beautiful creation. Alas! The "forbidden fruit" is presented to our senses and imagination in the manner in which the Bible describes the reaction of our first parents in the face of temptation. The "covering of light" is replaced with the darkness of the soul; the word of God is doubted even against our better judgement, and the "sin of the world" keeps perpetuating itself, clouding the mind and blunting the conscience. This brings about spiritual blindness as well as deafness and renders us powerless to proclaim the word of God to others.

In restoring the power of hearing and of speech to the man who was brought to Him, Jesus uses His fingers and salvia to indicate that if only we open our senses to His healing touch we can rid ourselves of all impediments that hinder grace from allowing the light to shine in our souls.

Lord God, give me the wisdom and understanding to use all my senses for Your greater glory, to listen to Your word in faith, to proclaim the news of salvation to others and to refrain from doing anything displeasing to You. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
