Jesus presents Himself revealing the Father, fullness of the revelation. This is possible and is justified by His particular relationship with the Father, by His life of intimacy with Him from all eternity.
Today's Gospel is a calling-invitation to share with Jesus. The image of "yoke" belonged first to the relationship of "slave-lord". Afterwards it was applied to the "disciple-teacher". Our human relationships, and also the divine, were expressed with the terminology of "submission and obedience". Yes, each teacher had "a yok" to impose on his/her disciples. But the "yoke" of Christ is lighter that the one imposed by other teachers. Jesus strongly attacks the Scribes because they impose "heavy burdens on the shoulders of others" (Mt. 23:4).
But why could Jesus say that His yoke is easy and lighter? Because Jesus inculcates the spirit of the Law, liberating us from its slavery. He asks us to pray to the Father and gives us the guarantee that He will listen to us and help us in our weakness. Finally Jesus presents Himself "as meek and humble of heart". His yoke has nothing to do with oppression or authority; it comes with humility, not with authority.
Jesus, may all my obligations and duties be motivated by love and only by love.
