Jesus may have ascended into heaven yet we do more that passively or even anxiously await His coming. It is our work as Church to give to all who seek it "the gift of life-giving water". It is our work to advance unity and peace not only among those we like, those with whom we agree, but with all people. Jesus did not limit His prayer only to the disciples. Rather, He extended it to include all people. So too our ministry, our love must extend not only to friends but to strangers as well.

Unity is achieved not be forcing people to act or look alike. Unity is brought about by love. The same love that is a binding and creative force of Father, Son and Spirit also unites and drives us. Yet this love is not a magical force or power, nor is it automatic. The love that unifes and breeds peace comes through generous and selfless giving, through charity.

The challenge of Jesus for us, His disciples, is that we must manifest love by understanding and tolerance and extending God's love to people of every race and nationality. This is a new way of being Church.

Lord, open my heart to see Your power of unifying love in our midst.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That allowing himself to be enlightened and guided by the Holy Spirit, every Christian may answer enthusiastically and faithfully to the universal call to sanctity.
