As the time of Jesus' glorification approaches the "parables" which He had been telling are to be made clear. Jesus had come from the Father and is to return to the Father. This He explains to His disciples. And suddenly the disciples believe that at last they have grasped the mystery of Jesus. They think that they already understand what Jesus is saying to them. Yet in reality they still do not understand the way in which He is to depart and be glorified.

Aware of this, Jesus challenges them and rebukes them for their complacency. For in spite of their newly-acquired insight, these very disciples will abandon Him when they face persecution. Each will scatter, seeking his own safety. Still Jesus informs them that He will have the supporting presence of His Father in His time of loneliness. He promises them that they too, and all who remain His true disciples will share in the peace and joy that arises through His victory over the powers of evil through His death and resurrection.

Hence in our moments of trials and tribulations we are challenged not to be discouraged. No number of conflicts from outside or from within should dishearten us for Jesus our Saviour has conquered the world.

Lord, thank You for assuring me of Your love even when I lose hope and forsake You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That allowing himself to be enlightened and guided by the Holy Spirit, every Christian may answer enthusiastically and faithfully to the universal call to sanctity.
