"What must we do if we are to do the works that God wants?"

This is a common question that Christians ask themselves. It is not easy to know what God wants us to 'do' or 'be' for Him. Yet Jesus' answer to this question is "¡Kyou must believe in the one he has sent." Together with this, Jesus also said, "Do not work for the food which perishes". The key to receiving the gift of Jesus is Faith that he is the one from God. This does not refer to the 'bread' of the Eucharist but to Jesus' word of revelation.

'On him God the Father has set his seals.' (Jn. 3:33) that whoever accepts the testimony of the one who has come 'from above' sets his seal on the truthfulness of God. Jesus finally insisted that only one 'work' is necessary, that of believing in the one sent by God.

This is what St Stephen's life proved as in the first reading (Acts 6:8-15), one who firmly believes in Jesus as one sent by Father God. The Holy Spirit was with Him that He was able to teach with power and strength. This is seen in by his face which looked like that of an angel.

Like St John Baptist de la Salle whose feast we celebrate today, let us be 'Easter people' living the Good News of Resurrection and bear witness to this Easter mystery.

Lord, help us to live out our Christian responses, seeing particularly to the needs of the poor among us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians, even in the difficult and complex situations of present day society, may not tire of proclaiming with their lives that Christ's resurrection is the source of hope and of peace.
