In the early Church it was at first taken for granted that Christianity was for Jews only. When some of the Christians at Jerusalem heard that Gentiles too had become followers of Christ, they objected. Peter was challenged on the point and responded by explaining the vision he had which makes it clear that God was calling all people to salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the gate, as he declares in the Gospel. Through Him all peoples are invited to enter into the kingdom of God. And in the Acts of the Apostles Acts 11:18 "...God has granted life-giving repentance to the pagan nation as well". In our everyday life, it is not uncommon to see some non-Christian portraying greater Christian virtues than some Christians themselves. Under such circumstances, we may have to acknowledge the fact that such persons' doing good, striving towards the goals for peace, unity and justice, are also influenced by the Spirit of Christ. Christ Jesus leads all people like a Good Shepherd.

These days it is difficult for us to imagine how anyone could have thought that Christianity was meant to be exclusive. Nonetheless, we must constantly make sure that our attitude is the same as God's about people. Even the slightest hint of excluding anyone from our love and concern is not in accord with His will. Actually we must make positive efforts to reach out in sharing His love with everyone we meet.

Lord, give us the grace to seek You daily and to love You more dearly.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians, even in the difficult and complex situations of present day society, may not tire of proclaiming with their lives that Christ's resurrection is the source of hope and of peace.
