The Scripture readings describe our assimilation into the mystery of the Word made flesh, our awakening to the divine life within us and our capacity to transmit it. "Today" in Luke 4:21, means the transmission of the mystery as immediate spiritual experience - for we listen to God's word not only as inspiration and encouragement, but also as empowerment.

When we listen to movements of the Spirit rather than to our own fancy ideas and self-centered programmes for happiness, the internal commentary that normally sustains our emotional upsets comes to an end, enabling us to accept difficult situations and people.

Jesus was led by the Spirit to Nazareth. He did not go there of His own initiative. He was following a movement of the Spirit within Him with whom He was totally identified. God is infinite concern for every living thing. That is the source of our true ministry and mission in the Church. It is not our work we do! The Word not only sheds light on our life's task but it will constantly stir us into concrete options in favour of people who need us most!

"Today", Lord help us to be one with You in Your mission on earth - giving of ourselves as You did to the Father's Will.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Church may strengthen her commitment to full visible unity in order to manifest in an ever growing degree her nature as community of love, in which is reflected the communion of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
