Today's readings are about wisdom. It was the gift that Solomon asked God for. God praised him because he had not asked for long life, wealth or vengeance on his enemies but for the ability to discern good from evil. In terms of the Gospel passage, it is the treasure in the field or the pearl of great price for which everything else is sold that it may be purchased. For us, wisdom is to be found in a full understanding of the vision of life which Jesus presents to us. It is much more than knowing the contents of the Gospel. It is a deep insight into the teaching of the gospel, such that it throws light on every aspect of our living and shows us the way to walk through life. This treasure is worth more than anything else we could possibly want. With it we have everything, without it we are hopelessly lost.
Loving Father, give us the gift of wisdom. Give us the gift to see ever more clearly where we can find You and respond to You every moment of our lives.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
