The lack of unity among Christian churches is a painful wound on the Body of Christ. It is also a horrible anti-testimony to our faith in Jesus Christ.
In today's Gospel reading Jesus teaches us that the model of Christian unity is the union between the Father and the Son. It is the union of love - the sacrificial love of the Father who offered His Son for the salvation of the world and the obedient love of the Son who accepted the will of His Father. Christians are able to live in unity and to restore the unity that was broken because Jesus gives them the glory He has received from His Father. This glory is Jesus' cross. Christians can build unity among themselves only through the cross of Jesus: that means through the faithfulness to the truth of God's word and not through compromising their faith.
Today as we look at Jesus praying for the unity of His disciples let us ask ourselves how much we contribute to restore the broken unity of Christian churches. Do I build true unity in my family and in the community in which I live by denying my pride? Do I build unity in my parish through the obedience to the will of God? Do I build unity in my Church through my faithfulness to the profession of faith?
Jesus, make known to me the name of Your Father so that the love of God may grow in my heart. Help me to build the true unity among my brothers and sisters who profess the faith in You.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
