Yesterday we remembered all those people who are now enjoying unending happiness face to face with God. They include not only the people we formally recognise as saints but all other Christians who are sharing the same happiness. But we also have to include all those - known only to God - who may never have known Christ but lived their lives in true goodness and in love of their brothers and sisters. Today we remember another group. They are those who at the time they die are not quite ready to see God face to face. They need to go through a period of purification to remove all imperfection and lack of perfect love before they can enjoy a face to face experience with their God. What form that purification takes we really have no idea, although we sometimes call it 'Purgatory', which is simply from a Latin word meaning 'purification'. It is also our Christian belief that the prayers of both the Blessed who are with God and also of those who are still living here on earth can help to hasten the purification process. And that is what we are doing today - offering our prayers and works on behalf of those still waiting to see their God as He is.
The Lord will wipe away the tears from every cheek.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
|
INTENTION
