Today we read one of the most profound, touching and instructive teachings on prayer. Very often we hear Paul using the phrase "in Christ Jesus." These words "in Christ Jesus" are not a mere metaphor or a way of speaking. They express a most profound reality. While Jesus is a person whom we love, He is also a "world" in which we must learn "to live and move and have our being", as Paul expressed it on another occasion.
When Paul speaks here of the breadth, length, height, and depth of Christ's love, he is not, then, using words merely for their own sake. He is picturing for us in images of space something of the mystery which God has revealed in Jesus. Overwhelming as picture in Ephesian may be, if we try to enter into the world which is Jesus, we will be enormously consoled and strengthened by the almost incomprehensible vastness of God's love.
Jesus, let me live in the world of Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
