By reflecting on the Transfiguration of the Lord from the perspective of a mystical experience of the disciples, we realize that the way to glory is the way of the Cross. This also invites us to enter into the experience of Jesus as He was about to fulfill the Will of the Father.
The vision of the 'Transfiguration' becomes a foretaste of heaven for all those who 'listen' to God's voice and keep it. As it assured the disciples, it also does so for all disciples of Jesus that they will be awarded according to their works and will inherit the Kingdom prepared for them since the foundation of the world. (Mt. 25:34).
In the second reading (2 Pt. 1:16-18), this event and experience is re-interpreted by the Disciples and re-echoed what God said, "This is my Son, the beloved, he enjoys my favour." Meditating on this gives us a sense of oneness with the Trinity.
In the first reading in Prophet Daniel, we see how the Son is to be - "His sovereignty is an Eternal sovereignty which shall never pass away, nor will his empire ever be destroyed."
As we celebrate this significant event, let us reflect on our own faith journey and be grateful for all we have received through the Holy Spirit.
Lord, lead and guide us in Your ways.
