Reflecting on our faith, we realize that, there is much that we cannot explain. Nevertheless, God gave us the gift of understanding and so we may speak about the mysteries of our faith in an intelligent way.
The mystery of the Blessed Trinity is a case in point: we cannot understand how God is three persons and one. But we can make distinct affirmations about God, each of which is intelligible and consoling, enlightening and attractive. All our statements together do not explain the mystery of the Trinity, but they do add up to an intelligent and consoling doctrine about the God whom we praise, reverence and serve.
God is Father, the source of our life. We find the full meaning of life in returning to this source, in returning to our Father's eternal embrace.
God is Son, and comes to us as Immanuel, God with us. We find the full meaning of life in our relationship with Jesus, our Christian religion, for Jesus brings us to the Father
The Spirit is the mutual love of the Father and Son, and comes to make us holy, more spiritual, so that we find the full meaning of life in love.
In giving glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit may we be blessed in living a life to the full.
