The Gospel of today's Mass is the same as we had for the feast of St Matthias last Thursday. The overall theme of the readings is God's love for us and how we are to respond to it. It is put most strongly in the Second Reading from the First Letter of John. It is a passage we should really learn by heart. Christian love forms the very essence of Christian living; with it we have everything, without it we have nothing. "Anyone who fails to love can never have known God, because God is love." Love is not just an action of God among others; it is his very nature. God cannot not love. This love has been revealed by the life Jesus, the Son of God, lived for us and which reached its climax in His offering of His life on the cross. Jesus showed His love for His Father by dying for us. We show our love for Jesus by our readiness to share that love in the way we treat people. The only way to God and Jesus is through the people in our lives.
Lord, may we grow in the knowledge of Your word and grow in love for You.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
