How to pray in the name of Jesus?
During the past few weeks we have heard the words of Jesus from the Last Supper. These words are very important because Jesus poured out His heart before His Apostles knowing that the time of His passion was very near. Today Jesus teaches us that the Father will answer our prayers when we make our petitions in Jesus' name.
There are three important conditions we need to fulfill if we want to pray in the name of Jesus that means like Jesus. The first of them is total obedience to the will of the Father. Jesus' prayer was always heard by His Father because He did only what was pleasing to the Father.
The second condition tells us that we should be persistent bringing our petitions to our heavenly Father. Jesus teaches us through His own example and His words that we must always pray and never lose heart.
The third condition of prayer in the name of Jesus is openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who sanctifies our hearts and teaches us how we ought to pray. Jesus began His public ministry after being anointed by the Holy Spirit.
Lord, guide me by the light of Your Holy Spirit.
