In the first reading we see how David being pursued by Saul, had the opportunity to put Saul to death. But he did not do so out of respect for Saul as king. He also firmly believed that Saul was the anointed of the Lord. It was indeed an extraordinary act on David's part and reflected not only esteem for the king but for God from whom the dignity of the king came.

Yes, in baptism we too were anointed as a kingly, priestly people sharing in the Royal priesthood of Christ. We are called by baptism to love each other as brothers and sisters. But before we can really love people we must respect them. We must see the source of man's dignity which is God's free choice. All the baptised are called by God just as surely as were the Apostles mentioned in today's Gospel. Jesus left the 12 apostles a legacy in His message and ministry. He taught them intimately about the kingdom and about God, forgiveness and judgement.

As disciples of Christ we too are empowered to extend His healing love to a broken world. Therefore let us strive to be humble and courteous towards those whom we feel angry with especially if they have shown resentment towards us in any way.

O Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace, whre there is hatred let me sow love. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
