One of the things that set apart the great artist Michelangelo, from the rest of the artists of his time was the attention he paid to details. As a young apprentice, Michelangelo spent a large amount of time studying the human anatomy. That is why whenever he drew or sculptured a human figure it seemed almost life like.
God also pays attention to details. In the first reading God gives Moses exact details on what he needs to do. A description is given as to how the tabernacle is to be built and how the people of Israel are to respond to the presence of God in the tabernacle. At every stage of their journey, the Lord carefully guides them, step by step.
In the Gospel, Jesus also describes in detail as to what will happen at the end of time. Like fishermen who know from experience, just by looking at certain details on a fish, as to which to keep and which to throw away, the angels too will separate the just from the wicked based on the details of our lives.
Sometimes we think that God can be taken for granted. Sometimes we think that God is not watching us when we do something right or something wrong. Let's not be fooled. God knows what is happening. God is very interested in the details of our lives.
Lord, help me never to take You for granted.
