What does it mean to be a man or woman of God and to walk in His ways and how can we identify such a person? Labels are not very helpful, but the bible gives us some clues. The spirit of God was given to the Suffering Servant of Isaiah so that he would establish justice on the earth. Justice is a quality of God and it is what God demands of us. Peter discovered, much to his shock, that God does not play favourites. Anyone who fears God and does what is right and good is acceptable to God regardless of who they are or what label they wear. God's compassion and love is for all of humanity. Finally, Jesus was baptized to a life of service to all of humanity. He would live his life for others - loving, giving, and finally sacrificing himself. That is the life pattern that he established for all people, regardless of what group, class, or nation they belong to. As we commemorate the baptism of Jesus we should reflect on our own baptism. It is not just something that we rely on to go to heaven but is a public commitment to a life of love and service. Our baptism is a key to heavenly treasures - even in this life - but it must turn the rusty lock of our heart and soul. An unopened gift is an unappreciated and unused gift. Let us experience the joy of doing God's work on earth.

Lord, grant me a deeper and richer experience of my baptism.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
