When faced with death - powerful earthquakes, famines, plagues, wars, insurrection - some deny its presence; others hide behind their religions; still others fall into despair. For us Christians, however, there is nothing to be afraid in death. Death has to happen first, taking away from us everything that is temporary and worldly and unreal, so that what remains in us is only life: Jesus. It doesn't matter to us when and where death will happen. What matters to us is that we are with Jesus Christ, our life. Everything around us will fall, but we will still be standing with life.
However, the challenge for us Christians is to be always sure that it is really the Lord that we allow to accompany us all along, and not false gods or our false images of God.
Lord Jesus, let us not be terrified by the different faces of death all around us: terminal illnesses, broken relationships, loss of loved ones, unrealizable dreams. Let me realize that as long as you are in me and I am in You, death will never have its sting.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
