We have always been taught to be the first, to gain the upper hand in everything, to strive for excellence. However, what Jesus teaches us is seemingly against this belief and human trend - whoever exalts himself will be humbled. To understand this, we have to enter the core of human experience - death. When death arrives, no matter how talented, how gifted, how beautiful, how powerful one is, all of these external gifts will fade away while only the soul remains. The only thing which matters to God is how much we have loved him in our gifts and talents, beauty and power and have used them to glorify him. All human souls know this secret. True humility consists in admitting that all I have is freely received from God and is for glorifying God and will finally return to God. I am nothing without God, because all goodness is from him. Yet I am most precious, because he has loved me from all eternity and no one can ever take away his love for me.

Lord, remind me that all my gifts, talents and efforts are to glorify You, not me, for I receive them freely from You and will return to You one day.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That people today, often overwhelmed by noise, may rediscover the value of silence to the voice of God and their brothers and sisters.
