The saying " blood is thicker than water” is used to assert that blood relations are always stronger than relations with friends (water), especially in times of trouble. But when Christ enters one’s life, his generous love makes us open the doors of our heart. Insecurity and caution that may mark our lives is turned to trust in God and in others.

Thus, part of the message of today’s gospel passage is that Jesus desires to extend the boundaries of our relationships to include all so that all can be one in him. His spiritual connectedness fills us with profound peace, spiritual consolation, love of God and love of all things in God. This reign of God in our hearts gives us a big heart that is larger than the world. It opens in us what St. Ignatius calls spiritual sensitivity in encountering God in our daily life, in and beyond ordinary experience. Blood may be thicker than water, but the spirit is capable of rising above blood relationships

Lord God, thank you for including us in Your family that is bound by an everlasting spiritual bond. Help us Lord, we beseech You, to develop that spiritual sensitivity to see all those around us as fellow siblings, Your children, in the kingdom which Jesus announced and which he brings to completion.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
