"You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye." How far have we been from ourselves by constantly pointing at the mistakes of others? Jesus reminds us of the necessity always to evaluate our actions by examining our lives in order to be able, not only to understand our own situations but also the world around us with objective lenses. It is very easy for most of us to blame others or even God for our fate. In fact, even today's psalmist echoes our usual concern when he says: "O God, you have rejected us and broken our defences; you have been angry; rally us!" However, just as the first reading recounts, the people had also rejected God's covenant and, instead of looking into their mistakes, they kept on accusing God and asking for help. Maybe when we come to God for assistance, it is also better that we first evaluate our own relationship with him. All that we need is always to remember that we are sinners but yet loved and constantly called to witness to this unfailing love.

Lord Jesus, give us eyes that see as You see, ears that hear as You hear and a loving heart that does not condemn but consoles.

Novena to the Sacred Heart

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
