"I will sing forever of your love, O Lord." As the response to the Psalm of today, it reminds us of God's faithfulness and love that bought for us redemption through the suffering, death and Resurrection of Jesus. This is how Paul in today's first reading, helped the believing community in Antioch to remember the whole journey of their salvation. As such, we as Easter people are challenged to re-define the love of God during this Easter season.
In the "washing of the feet of His disciples" Jesus shows us how this action of Love involves mutual service and love. This is revealed in the radical expression in the Cross and Resurrection. According to Dennis Edwards, a theologian, this sacrificial and redemptive act of Christ can be seen as "the love revealed in the Cross is extreme in its vulnerability and filled with power of LIFE. Jesus' vulnerability of Love for others to the end that the Resurrection Power breaks in upon creation. It is the infinite capacity for self-giving love, a love that does not overpower but works in and through creative process to bring LIFE. It enables the integrity and autonomy of the other."
This is true in Christian leadership at all levels. It even also goes beyond Christian leadership! So it is in our own context - a multi-racial and religious society where shared power is asked for. This includes a call of respect for all.
May the Holy Spirit give us the power to love one another."Lord, give us the courage to live an authentic Christian life which gives us the capacity to make Room for the other in loving service."
