Lady Wisdom has prepared a lavish feast for all humanity. Those who are 'simple' - not crafty or arrogant, but open and trusting - are invited to feast at the table. Wisdom is not the same as knowledge - we have more than enough of that but we sink ever deeper into difficulties. Wisdom is the art of living and loving in a way pleasing to God, as well as the ability to choose wisely in all situations. Lady Wisdom invites us to lay aside immaturity - grow up - and walk in the ways of deep insight. We will not find these ways on the internet or in a weekend workshop, but in reflection on our experience in light of the Word of God. Ephesians insists that a wisdom-filled life is one that is lived well, filled with the Spirit and overflowing with gratitude to God.

Just as Lady Wisdom fed those who heeded her voice, Jesus sustains those who respond to him in faith. He told his followers that he was the bread come down from heaven. Bread is the symbol of life itself, so Jesus gives us life and sustains us if we nourish ourselves on him like food. Just as food becomes part of every cell in our body, so Jesus and his Word must become a vital part of each of us. To be part of Jesus and to be sustained by him is to have eternal life - even in this life. We do not have to wait until we die to experience eternal life. Let us be very selective and careful about what we take into our hearts and minds. Only the best will do, and Jesus is certainly the best.

Lord, nourish me with Your Word.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
