"For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it." In today's Gospel, Jesus rejoices because the message which he has come to convey is bearing fruit. The disciples had gradually come to understand the power in powerlessness that is well expressed in the incarnation. Jesus has come amongst us and made what had always seemed impossible take shape and become reality. The two realities of God coming as a vulnerable child and suffering on the Cross can only be understood by those who truthfully embrace God's call to total obedience and trust. In our daily life, when we encounter difficulties, we often despair or act hurriedly to change situations. This attitude brings a lot of damage to our surroundings and us. We are called to follow the Psalmist who says: "Justice shall flourish in his time and fullness of peace for ever." Indeed, even when the situation is chaotic and God seems to be totally absent, let us find refuge in prayer. We need to let time be God's and humbly await the eternal peace that undoubtedly comes with creative love.
