The Psalmist gratefully acclaims "the Lord will bless his people with peace". The blessing turns into a curse when people disobey God. This makes God grieve over his creation. This results in disastrous effects on creation. When we seek God's will as Noah did, we will be blessed as Noah was, for he found favour in God's sight.
Jesus teaches his disciples to find the will of God amidst crises and to avoid the ways of the Pharisees and of Herod, who sought their own counsels rather than the will of God. However, the disciples are worried about their lack of bread, forgetting Jesus' miraculous power. Jesus then upbraids them for their lack of trust in God. It is easy for us to become preoccupied with the problems and needs of the present moment and to forget the most important reality of all - God's abiding presence with us and his abundant provision for our lives. Let us meditate on Jesus' words, "Whoever loves me will keep my word; and my Father will love him and we will come to him" (Jn 14:23).
Dear Lord, teach me Your ways that I may discern and do Your holy will.
