We often witness the abuse of power by political authorities or by market forces. How do we, as servants of Christ's mission, respond to these injustices? In Isaiah's first song about God's suffering servant, God speaks words of royal and prophetic commissions to his God's servant. The gods of the nations are delusions (Is 41) but God's servant is a light to the nations of the world.
What is unique about this servant is neither his prophetic word nor his action in establishing justice but his peaceful inner resolve. Similarly, Mary's peaceful inner resolve to respond to Jesus' love with loving service has its source in heaven. In this Holy Week, let us pray for guidance to imitate the suffering servant of God in our concrete circumstances.
Lord God, you have invited us through Jesus Christ to model our Christian life on Your life of communion and sharing. Help us to respond to your mission, of bringing peace in our personal and social life by establishing justice, through a strong inner resolve for affirmative action.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
