In yesterday's gospel passage, a young man approached Jesus with much enthusiasm and he really want to know the answer to his question: “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” And he must have been of encouraged when he heard Jesus reminding him of the Ten Commandments. “Master, I have kept all these things from my earliest days.” He could have gone away at that point thinking he had it made, his salvation was in the bag. But then Jesus looked at him with the intense love that only God can give. “There is just one thing missing - sell everything you have and give the proceeds to those in need.” He was crushed; this was too much. He was not ready for this. Nor were the disciples. If the rich cannot be saved, who can be? For them wealth was a sign of God's blessing. So Peter asked Jesus: “What about us? We have left everything and followed you” (Mk.10:28). Jesus sees things differently. For Jesus having a material surplus can only be used in one way - share it with those who are in need. There is no other way to be part of God's Kingdom on earth.

With God everything is possible.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That, rejecting the culture of indifference, we may care for our neighbors who suffer, especially the sick and the poor.
