The Resurrection has taken place but Jesus has not appeared to his disciples for a whole week. Moreover they seem to have returned to Galilee. We can sense some of their frustration when Peter says "I am going fishing." The others all agree immediately. So they go back to what was their work before Jesus called them. It is in the midst of their work that Jesus appears to them.

Is there a message here for us? If we hang around waiting for God to appear to us in some way, we will be disappointed and frustrated. But if we get in with our daily life, we will certainly find God approaching us. It will normally take us some time to become aware of God's presence. So, perhaps we have to be more like John, the contemplative at the heart of the Church: we need to heighten our spiritual sensitivities so that we can attain the necessary spiritual insight in all circumstances: "It is the Lord". We need to be more spiritually alert to see the Lord in all things. Amid the world's clamour we need a contemplative silence that allows us to recognize the Lord's voice.

Lord Jesus, in Peter's boat - the Church - may we learn to be spiritually more sensitive and more attentive so that we may recognize you in all things.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
