People frequently try quickly to hush the voice that challenges their conscience in order to cover up their wrong doings. They don't want to let go of the old ways of life for the better. God always wanted his people to walk in his ways and lead a life worthy of their call. His offer of salvation was constantly and obstinately rejected by his chosen people.

John the Baptist called the people to repentance. He himself set an example of a simple and austere life. But the Jews of his time, particularly the learned ones, rejected his call for a change of heart. Unwilling to turn to God, they rather found fault with John by accusing him of being possessed. On the other hand Jesus came and mingled with all and called them to enter into the Kingdom of God which he opened for everyone. But people insulted him, calling him a glutton. They were clearly unwilling to change. As long as one continues to find fault with others rather than being open and reflective, God's grace will not have any impact. We must heed the voice of God and be open to the salvation that God offers through Jesus at every moment of our life.

Lord, help us to discern our way of life and live according to Your way.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
