In the Opening Prayer today we pray for three graces. First of all we ask that God may bring us back to himself. Secondly we pray for the gift of wisdom. Thirdly, we pray for the grace to be enriched by our observance of Lent. Let us reflect on the significance of these three graces so that we may pray for them with great sincerity.
That God may bring us back to himself: we pray for the grace of reconciliation, the grace to repent. Secondly we pray for the gift of wisdom. The Bible recognizes two types of wisdom. There is human wisdom: Jesus teaches the need for human wisdom when he presents the little parable of a man needing to sit down and calculate the cost before building a house (Lk 4:28-33). The second type of wisdom is divine wisdom: the wisdom of the Cross (1Cor 1:18) It is divine wisdom which makes us desire to be holy in union with Jesus, for God is holy. Thirdly, we pray for the grace to be enriched by our observance of Lent - enriched in our spiritual lives through the wisdom of repentance and the desire for holiness.
God, our Saviour, bring us back to You, grant us Your wisdom and enrich our spiritual lives.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
