In the musical based on the story of Joseph in today's first reading, there is a song Any dream will do. The song is very attractive and it can engender various types of reflection. During Lent, for us Christians, will any dream do, or are we truly looking for a special dream - the dream God has for us, the dream which inspired Jesus as he taught us about the Kingdom of God in attractive and challenging parables with a great simplicity and depth born of divine wisdom. Some of us have recently been very attracted about the notion of "wisdom language" as a fine instrument for communicating the message of Jesus. In the past, Popes wrote Encyclicals which were of great importance for the Church and for society but they were usually written in a very ecclesiastical style and in Latin. The translations often appeared to be rather turgid and heavy and so unattractive. One of the great things about Pope Francis is that more ordinary Catholics understand perfectly well what he is saying and can even quote him. He speaks in the simple but very deep and engaging language of a wise man.
Father in Heaven, through the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, teach us to dream Your dream and to strive confidently to make it come true.

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
