"If God were your Father, you would love me". There is a close relationship between knowing God as Father and loving Jesus. In the same way, we most surely believe in God the Father by loving Jesus according to his teaching and revelation. We pray today that God, who is the Father of all mercies, may enlighten our minds and sanctify our hearts. At creation God gave us a conscience to enlighten and guide us in knowing what is right and wrong. But then he further enlightened us through the history of Israel and the words of the prophets and finally in his Son Jesus, so that by following the path of right and life, we would know him more clearly and, in knowing him, learn the way to holiness.

Jesus summed up his teaching in a "new commandment": we are to love each other as Jesus loved us. We must then know and experience the Love which Jesus has for us and follow him in loving each other. Knowing, loving and following must come together.

Father in Heaven, grant us the grace to know Jesus more clearly, to love him more dearly and to follow him more nearly.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
