The new perspective that Jesus brought to the Jewish faith seemed to be quite the opposite of what the Jews presumed to be right. Jesus challenged the status quo - which made everything divine, out of the reach of the ordinary and the innocent. Children according to the Jews were not capable of understanding the law and hence incapable of entering the Kingdom. Jesus inverted that whole logic and said that it requires the faith of the children to enter the Kingdom of God.

The reading from Sirach exemplifies the paradox. God wants to share his divinity with a humanity that was born out of dust and will return to dust. He assigned the human race as stewards to guard all creation and to promote life. God shares with us the ability to discern and to feel with creation. God gave all this so that we might praise, adore and worship him. We believe in Jesus, the Son of God, 'who, though he was God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.'

Lord, we ask You that we may always be aware of our sharing in Your divinity. May we always keep in mind Your greatness and the divinity we share, help us to extend Your mercy and love to those who need it most.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
