"The only way to discover the will of God and know what is good, what it is that God wants, what is the perfect thing to do."

With these words, Paul indicates the importance of what he has just said in the previous verses. He touches upon a question that faces many young Catholics as they face life, its choices, its responsibilities and its challenges: "How do I know the will of God?" It is always important, first of all, to realize that God's will is essentially God's love, and so God's will for us is simply God's love for us, the enlightenment it brings and the attraction it exercises upon us. It is not a plan imposed upon us, but a way of leading our life deeply animated by a loving response to eternal love. Paul urges us to a change of behaviour, modelled on our new mind. This new mind, a new way of looking at life and all it entails, will through grace understand God's mercy and flow into all our actions and behaviour to lead us ever more surely towards always doing what is pleasing to the Father, as Jesus himself says (Jn 8:28). Then we can be sure that we are living according to the will of God.

Father in Heaven, guide us in doing what is pleasing to You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
