Jesus reveals himself through his words and deeds. His teaching and actions impress every witness. Jesus is not like the teachers or lawyers, who repeat, interpret or give opinions. He speaks on his own and he speaks with authority, and acts as he says. His authority comes from speaking the Truth.
In today's gospel reading, we see that even the evil spirit in the synagogue knew who Jesus was: "I recognise you: you are the Holy One of God." Sharply Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and the possessed was exorcised, unhurt.
We Christians think that we know Jesus well enough; but very often we do not bother to cultivate a personal relationship with our God through prayer, or to change our lives by modelling ourselves on Jesus.
Lord Jesus! May I truly know that You are my saviour and my God. Give me courage to bring the evil I am confronting in my life to You and talk it over with You. May I follow You closely in faith and in truth.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
