The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is indeed a mystery. God was willing to become human and experience our humanity in all things but sin. Jesus accepted limitation, pain, and death, but did so joyfully, out of love for all. Paul points out that when we meditate on this great mystery, we will know how to behave - no need of rule books. Jesus died for us even in our sinful state. Our gratitude should be shown in our response to his great grace.

Jesus was frustrated. People criticized John the Baptist for being too hard and ascetical - he barely ate and drank enough to stay alive. They called him a madman. Jesus was gentler and more balanced in his approach to spirituality, but they called him a glutton and a drunkard, because he ate and drank normally. Many people judge by outward appearances, and they have very particular expectations regarding religion and spirituality. They do not listen to the message or understand what is given. They tear apart even saintly people or great reformers, leaders, and humanitarians, all because of their weaknesses and faults, both real and imagined. Listen to the message with the heart. Look and see how others are touched and affected. Do not be too critical or judgmental. Look for the good. There are saints and good people all around us - we need but open our eyes and hearts.

Lord, help me to see the good in others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
