We are familiar with the stories of Jesus feeding the multitudes but here in the Old Testament, we read of the miracle of Elisha's multiplication and distribution of food. This event foreshadows the miraculous feedings of Jesus in the Gospels. The Ephesians were encouraged to live a life worthy of their calling. This involved humility, gentleness, patience, loving kindness, and living in unity with one another. Unity and peace were made possible through the power of one Spirit, one Lord Jesus Christ and one God the Father. A strong connection with God and with each other was essential to living their faith. The same applies in our lives today.

The crowd followed Jesus because of the many signs they witnessed him performing for the sick. Jesus was testing Philip by asking how they would feed the crowd. Philip was overwhelmed by the thought of such a task. Andrew noticed the boy with the five loaves and two fish but questioned what good they would be among so many. Both disciples underestimated Jesus' power. But the boy provided what he had and miraculously Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish to feed the entire crowd. Not only was the crowd fed but there was an abundance of food left over. What does that say to us? Jesus will generously provide for our needs, but we also need to listen and be actively involved in his mission. How will we respond to Jesus?

Lord, help me to listen to Your voice.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That priests, who experience fatigue and loneliness in their pastoral work, may find help and comfort in their intimacy with the Lord and in their friendship with their brother priests.
