Meditating on the conversion of Lydia, a gentile, in the first reading, gives a sense of joy and delight as her heart was opened to respond to the gospel message of St. Paul. It is also the response of delight as in the antiphon of the Responsorial Psalm. This is certainly the work of the Holy Spirit that Jesus talked about to the disciples in the Gospel reading.
This is what Chapter 15 of John's Gospel speaks of in the response of a believer in Jesus. It is this abiding in Jesus that the followers of Jesus are drawn into the heart of the Divine Communion - God in us and we in God - the essence of Incarnation! This also refers to the promise of the coming of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit which enables the disciples to bear witness to Jesus.
Today, the followers of Jesus continue to bear witness to Jesus. We know that it is the Holy Spirit who is the on-going revelation of God to us. This Spirit will be the one to guide us to understand Jesus as our Saviour - His word, life, death and resurrection - the Paschal Mystery.
Let us, as Easter people, continue to savour the joy of our conversion and live it everyday in our lives.
"Lord, grant us the grace to experience the joy of our daily conversion."
