We understand so little but claim to know so much. We are in good company with Job, who had been questioning God's ways. When God finally spoke to Job out of the whirlwind, he deflated him and brought him down to earth by a simple set of questions. God asked Job if he was able to do the things that God does in creating and sustaining the universe or if he had even been present when God did these things. The answer was of course 'no' and Job decided to keep his mouth shut. We make huge judgments based on very little information and are quick to complain when life doesn't unfold the way we think it should. Along with Job, we can strive to grow in trust and abandonment to the will of our good and gracious God.

The towns of Chorazin and Bethsaida had seen great things done in their midst - the teaching and the miracles of Jesus. But they remained unimpressed and unwilling to change their ways. Jesus uttered a warning - they did not have a happy future. Even Capernaum was criticized - they thought highly of themselves but did not show the fruits of repentance. To reject Jesus when he walked and taught in their streets was the same as rejecting God. Not a good move! It is important not to be complacent or cynical, but always open and eager to be taught and to grow spiritually. A relationship with Jesus means change.

Lord, may Your word transform me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That consecrated religious men and women may bestir themselves, and be present among the poor, the marginalized, and those who have no voice.
