At the entrance to the modern city of Jerusalem in Israel there is an arch with the welcoming greeting in Hebrew: "Blessed is your coming". On this Monday of the first week of Advent, we proclaim with the Psalmist: "I rejoiced when I heard them say: Let us go to the house of the Lord." During the season of Advent we prepare to go to the house of the Lord, to be in the company of Jesus who is born for us, to learn to rejoice in his saving presence among us. When we eventually, on Christmas day, come to Bethlehem to worship the new-born Child, who is our Lord and Saviour, we can be certain that Jesus blesses us with a divine Welcome.

Lord Jesus, as we prepare for the celebration of Your birth amongst us, make our hearts ready to accept Your welcome for us into the house of our Father.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
