A strong society takes care of its weakest members. The basic social unit for the formation of a strong society is the family. The family needs to be promoted and safeguarded, for it is here that the weakest members of any society - children - grow up in a natural environment and so are nurtured and strengthened in the human values which give them dignity and greatness.

The institution of marriage with its family culture is primarily intended for the children. The total self-giving love and fidelity in a couple's relationship and their mutual respect strengthen the cradle of the new-born.

The Abrahamic model of a natural family founded on an expectant faith in God is still relevant for our times, where the high cost of living, financial and work-related stress, strain family interactions. Furthermore, the model of the Holy Family characterised by mutual submission is an invitation to transcend all boundaries set by blood relationships.

Heavenly Father, restore our human relationships, families and societies so that the warmth of a natural family welcomes every child coming into the world. We humbly implore You to grant Your special graces to our families. May our homes be shrines of peace, purity, love, labour and faith.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
