Why does John speak of the witness of water, spirit, and blood? It refers to Jesus - his human nature, his divine nature and his death on the cross. Jesus overcomes the world and death itself. That is why the letter of John assures us that whoever has the Son, has life. This does not just mean belonging to the right church, but allowing the Son into one's heart, mind, and soul. The life that Christ give us begins now - in this life.

The leper who came to Jesus for healing was not convinced that it was going to happen. He rather oddly said, 'If you choose, you can make me clean.' He even bowed low to the ground in humility and desperation. Of course, Jesus chose to heal him and did so. He only asked that the man tell no one, but people are not that reliable. He immediately spread the word far and wide, so Jesus was overwhelmed by the number of desperate people who came to him. If we genuinely have the Son within us, we should not be amazed at miracles and healings. That is who Jesus is, and that is what he does for us.

Lord, grant me the grace to embrace real life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
