God's promise to David that his family would reign over Israel prompted a humble response. David declared that God's name would be held up forever as the God of Israel. He also asked God to bless his family forever, as he wanted them to serve God. David knew that he could approach God in prayer because God had approached David first. David responded with humble praise to God. Jesus was from the house of David and thus fulfilled the hope and expectation expressed by David that his heir would reign eternally.
Jesus had been teaching the mystery of the kingdom of God. He had been using parables or stories to show the people what he wanted to share with them, but even the disciples were puzzled. Jesus then turned his attention to his disciples. He questioned whether a light would be hidden under a bushel or bed rather than put on a lampstand. Jesus said that everything that was hidden would be disclosed. There would be no secrets. Jesus wanted the disciples to share with others what he shared with them about the kingdom of God. Such good news should not be hidden. God calls on us today to share the good news of Christ's love with others.
Lord, may I praise You and share Your Good News.
