This passage from John's Gospel offers us a great consolation: Jesus prayed for us as he faced death for our salvation that we may still believe in God and that we may not be scattered as sheep without a shepherd.

He prayed to the Father for the unity of the apostles and our salvation. "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will be one, just as you and I are one" (Jn 17:20-21).

And the Letter to the Hebrews (Cf. 7:25) affirms this doctrine that Jesus Christ is at the Father's side after his Resurrection and Ascension and forever interceding for all who come to God through him.

We are among those who have come to believe in Jesus through the preaching of the Apostles. This faith was handed down to us through the ages.

The Psalmist reminds us that God's wisdom will show us the path to life, fullness of joy and delights at God's right hand forever.

Indeed, Jesus is with us through the Church and the Eucharist and though his perpetual heavenly prayer for us. He is with us till the end of time.

Lord Jesus, in Your heavenly prayer before the Father, remember us in all our needs, for we have come to believe in You through Your word of saving truth, handed down to us through the ages by Your apostles.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That deacons, faithful in their service to the Word and the poor, may be an invigorating symbol for the entire Church.
