John was told that he must prophesy again, but first, he had to take the scroll and eat it. As he had been told, the scroll tasted sweet as honey.

Was that perhaps because it contained God's words? And again, as he had been told, it made his stomach bitter. Was that because the scroll contained God's judgments? Prophesying was not easy, and many prophets obeyed reluctantly. Being faithful is not easy. It can result in God asking us to do something that we do not want to do. What will our response be?

Jesus was outraged that the temple was not being respected and that people were being exploited when coming to worship. The temple was meant to be a house of prayer.

After cleansing the Temple until Passover, Jesus came daily to teach in the temple. The people listened and were amazed at what he taught, but the temple officials grew more determined in their desire to kill Jesus.

Jesus remained obedient and continued to complete his mission even when he knew that his life was in danger.

Lord, help me to be obedient even when it is not easy.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
