The Jews had started rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem, but it was difficult work. The prophet Haggai delivered an encouraging message from the Lord. The people were to take courage; the Lord was with them. The Lord reminded the people that his spirit was with them just as it had been when they fled from Egypt. The Lord would look after everything and would bring prosperity according to his covenant with the people. But the Lord required them to work hard to rebuild the Temple. Since God dwelled in the Temple, it was important that they make it a priority. Then God would again dwell in their land.

Jesus had been praying, and then he asked his disciples who people were saying that Jesus was. Because of his teachings and healings, the people thought Jesus was a prophet. Then Jesus asked his disciples the question that we all must answer: "Who do you say that I am?" Immediately Peter said that Jesus was the "Messiah of God." How would Peter have known that?
