The Apostles were arrested because the high priest and the Sadducees were jealous that people were experiencing miracles at the hands of the Apostles. However, an angel removed them from jail in the middle of the night and instructed them to go to the temple and "tell the people the whole message about this life." Just as Jesus did, the Apostles were continuing the mission within the temple. When they were brought by the guards to the high court, they did not resist nor were they fearful because they had been obedient to God.

The passage from John is very familiar as John shares that Jesus came for our salvation. God sent Jesus because of His love for humankind. Belief in Jesus means total surrender, not just nodding assent to the knowledge that Jesus is the Son of God. To have life is to welcome Jesus into our lives and follow his way - the way of life-giving love. We are not condemned if we accept God's grace. We are loved eternally despite our imperfections. Have you accepted God's grace?

Lord, help me to surrender totally to You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray for health care workers who serve the sick and the elderly, especially in the poorest countries; may they be adequately supported by governments and local communities.
